Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing the right size
The following size guide will help you choose the right suitcase size based on the length of your trip and your personal packing needs. This way, you can quickly find out whether a compact carry-on suitcase is sufficient for a short trip or whether you’d be better off opting for a medium-sized or large model for longer journeys.
What are the maximum permitted dimensions?
The 158 cm rule sets the maximum permitted size for checked-in luggage on flights. This does not refer to a single edge length, but to the so-called circumference. This is calculated as the sum of the suitcase’s width, height and depth. In practical terms, this means: you measure your suitcase along its three external dimensions (including wheels and handles) and add these values together. The result must not usually exceed 158 cm for the suitcase to still be accepted as standard checked-in luggage. If this measurement is exceeded, the luggage may be classified as bulky luggage depending on the airline and incur additional charges.
| Suitcase size | Duration of trip | Suitcase height | Volume | Hand luggage |

Family holidays
Going on holiday with the whole family is a real challenge. As lovely as it is to show the children the world, it can also be quite exhausting at times. Anyone travelling with children has a lot to think about, and the luggage is considerably bulkier. Depending on their age, the little ones have their own specific needs. Good organisation of your luggage is therefore all the more important on a family holiday.
Separate luggage for the children
Many parents tend to pack their children’s clothes and toys in their own luggage. However, this can quickly become chaotic. While packing, it’s easy for your things to get mixed up with your children’s. Once you arrive at your holiday destination, the first thing on the agenda is sorting through the clothes. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Children’s suitcases, rucksacks and bags are the solution. These are sized to fit the little ones and designed with children in mind. This way, your child can pack their own suitcase – with your help, of course – and nothing gets mixed up. At Koffer24, we offer a wide selection of luggage designed especially for children, so that packing and travelling become a special treat for the little ones.
The right luggage for travelling with children of all ages
Whilst children’s suitcases are a good solution, they are not suitable for children of every age. If you are travelling with a baby or toddler, they will naturally not yet need their own suitcase. So when buying your suitcase, make sure it has enough space inside and that you may even have the option to keep your baby’s things separate from your own. However, if your child is a teenager, then their own piece of luggage is absolutely essential. Above all, it needs to be cool and suit their taste. Perhaps they don’t want a suitcase at all, but would prefer a rucksack. It’s best to choose the luggage for your teenager together with them, so that they’ll actually enjoy packing afterwards. At Koffer24, you’ll find a variety of suitcases and rucksacks for all age groups.
