Car Luggage Goes Full Throttle
The company that manufactures the Roadsterbag range of cases is Roadster Concept. It was founded back in 2003 and specialises exclusively in the manufacture of high-quality specialist cases for convertibles and roadsters. However, the company’s history began some 100 years ago, when a weaving mill and textile production facility were still in operation in Mönchengladbach. It was Kai Neulen who came up with the idea of developing special cases for cars with limited boot space. Like so many ideas, this one too arose out of necessity. The inventor of the Roadsterbags wanted to go on holiday in his roadster and realised that there wasn’t a single suitable case on the market. He therefore began developing vehicle-specific cases that make optimum use of the often very small and awkwardly shaped boot of a convertible or roadster. Of course, another important factor in the manufacture of these very special suitcases is that the vehicle’s soft top must still be able to be opened when the car is fully loaded. Roadster-Concept has certainly succeeded in this with the Roadsterbag suitcase range.

Roadster-Concept began by developing luggage solutions for convertibles and roadsters, as these vehicles present particular challenges when loading luggage for a holiday. Thanks to the bespoke, vehicle-specific designs, the limited space is used to its full potential, ensuring nothing stands in the way of a well-equipped holiday. However, the company now also manufactures luggage sets to meet the high standards of owners of coupés, saloons and SUVs. The production of these highly specialised suitcases, which are designed to fit into even the smallest and most awkwardly shaped boot spaces, is a complex process. Materials from the automotive industry, such as microfibre, synthetic leather and genuine leather, are used. At the same time, however, the luggage must retain its shape, which is why it requires a composite frame specially developed by Roadster-Concept.
The fact that the cases are of such high quality whilst also featuring these special dimensions is only possible because each one is painstakingly handcrafted. Only the composite frame is manufactured using state-of-the-art machinery. This unique combination of craftsmanship and high-tech makes the luggage truly special.
